This English Pupil's Bok uses research based pedagogy to support pupils to develop into successful English language readers. These materials were piloted by the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology and USAID during the three year Primary Math and Reading Initiative (PRIMR). It focuses on the essential skills for literacy, including recognizing letters and their sounds, putting letter sounds together to read words, putting words together accurately to make meaning from text, and to write interesting stories. The content and skills taught in this Enblish book cover the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) syllabus covering the four areas of literacy: Listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as the curricular themes.
